We usually only run one referee course each year and that is usually in February.  Dates for 2027 have not yet been set, however the most likely dates at 13th, 20th and 27th

Our course in run over two full Saturdays (8.30 - 3.30) with a third optional week of on field practical training being made available where clubs run in house pre-season games with teams from within the club playing each other.

The course is open to young people and adults - min age requirements applies (must turn 13yrs or older before 30th June). Some special arrangements will be made for any adults wishing to attend.

Over the past few years, we have been able to take our new referees and give them some “hands on” experience and training on the "in house" club games. This has proven to be invaluable for new referees. If clubs make this available to us again this year, we will invite all new referees to attend. It is NOT a compulsory part of the course, however it is wise to attend. You would be invited to come for about 90 minutes and will give you a time slot if you indicate that you will attend.

Attendance is required at both of the theory training sessions.

Both Saturday sessions will be held in the upstairs hall at New Life Church, Nambour (located at Nambour Christian College).

Course Cost

The course cost has not been set for the 2027 course, but should be a little over $300 . Included in this cost is the course itself, morning tea and lunch on both Saturdays, referee shirt, referee shorts, sox, cap, referee starter kit (set of flags, whistle, notebook, cards), referee registration.

We don’t want anyone to miss out because of the cost, so if the cost is a genuine problem, please discuss this with  us.  The course cost will be reduced also for any second member of a family attending the course.

Application form

An application form is located below - we prefer that you complete the form using the MSWord format, but a PDF copy is also available below if you have no access to MSWord.  This can be completed before course details are published if you you wish

Please complete the form and return the completed form to  screfs@optusnet.com.au .

Refereeing

It is assumed that everyone doing the course will be available to referee in the SCCSA competition. If this is NOT the case for you, please advise on the first day of the course BEFORE you make any course payments (because if you aren’t going to referee, you won’t need the uniform and referee registration fee).
